How Is Vinyl Flooring Installed?
There are a few different ways to install vinyl flooring, and the specific installation process really depends on your flooring choice. Sheet vinyl flooring, for example, comes in vinyl rolls, so it is glued to the subfloor with a permanent adhesive. As you can imagine, the subfloor needs to be perfectly flat, even, and dry before installation. Sheet vinyl is installed without any gaps in the surface.
More modern luxury vinyl flooring options, including vinyl plank and vinyl tile flooring, feature innovative installation processes. Most vinyl planks and tiles will perfectly attach together almost like a puzzle, and they can be floated over the subfloor without any adhesive. These glueless installation processes are quick and efficient, and because there is no adhesive, the planks and tiles can usually be removed or replaced. Nonetheless, vinyl planks and tiles can still be glued to the subfloor with an adhesive for a permanent bond. We recommend glued-down installations in high-traffic areas.

Where Can Vinyl Flooring Be Installed?
One of the biggest advantages of luxury vinyl flooring is its installation versatility. For the most part, because of its combination of style and performance, luxury vinyl can be installed in any residential or commercial setting. This does not mean that every luxury vinyl floor can be installed in kitchens, for example. You'll still need to consider factors such as moisture and foot traffic in order to make the right choice. But, no matter your performance needs, there will certainly be a perfect luxury vinyl floor for you.
Here are some areas where luxury vinyl flooring is especially practical:
All luxury vinyl floors are considered water resistant, so they can pretty much handle the moisture you'd expect in kitchens. And, because of luxury vinyl's resilient construction, it is more comfortable underfoot than ceramic tile. Luxury vinyl is therefore a great option for those who find themselves spending a lot of time in the kitchen.Learn More About Kitchen Flooring
Bathrooms are considered high-moisture areas, so hardwood and laminate certainly are not suitable in these areas. For similar looks, waterproof luxury vinyl flooring options, including Invincible H2O and COREtec Plus, are suitable in bathrooms. They can handle moisture and humidity, and they will never expand or contract.Learn More About Our Vinyl Brands
Luxury vinyl flooring isn't restricted to the home; it can be installed in commercial areas such as offices and even stores. Commercial vinyl flooring is typically thicker and stronger than residential vinyl, so it can handle the heavy foot traffic you'd expect in commercial settings. Also, commercial vinyl is extremely easy to clean and maintain.Learn More About Commercial Flooring
